Vehicle Maintenance - Tips & Tricks

As your go-to place for vehicle service, we like to see people take care of their cars.  It's not that we don't like your business, but it saves you money!  Here are a few suggestions worth mentioning:

Every 3,000 miles or 90 days:
- Change oil and oil filter.
- Check all fluids.
- Check tire pressure.
- Check all belts and hoses.
- Lubricate chassis.
Every 10,000 miles or Annually:
- Replace all filters (air, fuel, PCV).
- Check brakes and wheel bearings.
- Check all belts (including timing belt).
- Check temperature for engine thermostat.
- Replace spark plugs, points, cap, rotor and all necessary tune-up and emission items.
- Check for leaks and other problems.
- Rotate your tires.
Every 20,000 miles or 2 Years:
- Bleed brakes to renew fluid and remove contamination from normal wear and tear.
- Drain cooling systems, radiator, engine block, and all heater related components. Replace thermostat and refill coolant.
- Have your wheels aligned.
Every 50,000 miles or 5 Years:
- Replace transmission fluid. Change filter and clean screen and magnets.
- Replace differentials and transfer case fluids.
- Replace battery
Every 60,000 miles or 6 Years:
- Replace rubber timing belts on camshafts.

Other:
- Don't fill up at a gas station that has recently had a tanker there. Filling the underground tanks stirs up sediment that will then get into your gas tank.
- Lighten up your keychain.  A heavy keychain can be hard on your ignition and cause problems.
